SET Grooms Capital Market Professional Portfolio Advisors

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) unveils the intensive “Portfolio Advisory for Wealth Customer” training course conducted by investment planning experts and trainers, aiming at grooming investment consultants (ICs) and investment planners (IPs) to become professional portfolio advisors.

SET Senior Executive Vice President Krisada Sektrakul said that SET values professionals in the Thai capital market and has continuously enhanced their professionalism to be intermediaries in providing quality investment consultations to investors. In light of this, SET has recently introduced the ‘Portfolio Advisory for Wealth Customer’ course to enable financial personnel to efficiently give advice and service to investors. The course exclusively caters to the innovative portfolio advisory service in which the investment guidelines will be specified by company’s strategy team or the so-called house view. In addition, the investment guidelines have been designed in sets consisting of various kinds of investment to meet the goals and appetites of different groups of customers.

The “Portfolio Advisory for Wealth Customer” course has been designed for ICs and IPs to equip them with knowledge and understanding about investment portfolio planning service and necessary skills to become professional portfolio advisors. Significantly, SET supports ICs and IPs in terms of scholarships to attend the course to facilitate securities firms, and also helps promote such service to a wider group for the benefit of customers and securities business.

President of the Association of Thai Securities Companies (ASCO) Pichet Sithi-Amnuai said securities business in Thailand has constantly been enhanced in all aspects inclusive of services, product development, as well as knowledge and understanding of investors. The new portfolio advisory services can create new business opportunities for financial institutions in securities business. The ICs will give portfolio advices for investment in various instruments with appropriate risk management to match customers’ investment goals and align with the investment portfolio designed and managed by professionals. In addition, there are also be monitoring service, assessment, portfolio adjustment and movement report regularly to enable investors to easier access to wealth management type of services without having to have a huge fund for investment through private fund.             

ASCO realizes the importance of securities business’ personnel enhancement, especially the ICs and IPs who play important roles in giving proper advice that meet investors’ demand and the association then has been collaborating with SET continuously. The ‘Portfolio Advisory for Wealth Customer’ course which is the latest outcome of the joint efforts aims to enhance personnel potential to cope with the new business context and investors’ increasing demand, added Pichet.

The “Portfolio Advisory for Wealth Customer” course consists of 4 modules covering all stages of services. Module 1: the overview and importance of portfolio advisory services. Module 2: asset allocation and techniques to present the right products to customers. Module 3: the understanding of portfolio planning and portfolio selection techniques that respond to customers’ needs. Module 4: portfolio management and strategy adjustment. Exclusively, experts and trainers with extensive experiences in financial planning will share their knowledge and experiences such as Pattera Dilokrungthirapop, Maethee Chandavimol, Pichai Lertsupongkit and Mayuree Chowikran, among others. The course’s first class will be launched on Saturday August 15 and 22, and Sunday August 23, 2020, online to practice social distancing while   allowing a large number of ICs and IPs to conveniently participate in the training at the same time in each session.
