Osaka Exchange: The Selection Of The Development Vendor For The Next Generation Derivatives Trading System

Osaka Exchange, Inc. (OSE) has decided to select Nasdaq as the Development Vendor for the Next Generation Derivatives Trading System (J-GATE4.0).

OSE plans to replace the current J-GATE3.0, which you are presently using, with J-GATE4.0 around the latter half of 2028.

Under its Medium-Term Management Plan, the JPX Group is currently taking various initiatives in the derivatives field, positioning the invigoration of the equity options market, the expansion of interest rate-related products and services, and the stimulation of energy-related products as key priorities.
For J-GATE4.0, while ensuring stable market operations as a fundamental premise, we have set the project concept as “Reliability Plus”, with the aim of realizing market expansion and sustainable long-term development through the timely implementation of these diverse initiatives.
OSE believes that the Selection of the Development Vendor on this occasion will contribute to achieving this concept.

Ryusuke Yokoyama, President & CEO of OSE, said, “I am very pleased that we have selected Nasdaq as our development partner for J-GATE4.0. We have built a strong relationship of trust with Nasdaq over many years in the field of market infrastructure, and this new initiative will further reinforce our long‑term collaboration. J-GATE4.0 will significantly enhance the foundation of derivatives trading at OSE, and by combining Nasdaq’s expertise with our own experience, we believe we can provide all market stakeholders with a safer and more efficient trading environment.”

Magnus Haglind, Head of Capital Markets Technology at Nasdaq, said, "The evolution of global capital markets demands infrastructure that can not only meet today's requirements but anticipate tomorrow's opportunities. OSE's modernization program reflects their commitment to delivering world-class market infrastructure that enhances Japan's position as a leading global derivatives market. Our technology will provide OSE with the agility and advanced capabilities needed to serve their clients while positioning for future innovation and growth."

Going forward, OSE plans to begin development promptly and will steadily move the project forward with the cooperation of all market participants.
