Solana Capital announced it will be launching a global hackathon focused on Web3, DeFi, Gaming, and NFTs. The Ignition hackathon is open to teams from around the globe and will feature live events in select cities. 

Ignition is the fourth Solana hackathon, following the success of its Solana Season hackathon earlier this summer which boasted 13,000 total registrations, 350+ of project submissions, and 50+ projects that continued building on Solana and raised immediate funding.

Microsoft, Jump Trading, Standard Chartered, Forte, and Metaplex join Solana Capital as category sponsors for the global hackathon, offering participants a global Prize pool of up to $5 million in prizes and seed funding. 

In addition to category sponsors, leading ecosystem companies Serum, Mango, Pyth network, Raydium, Solend, Stardust, and Wormhole network are offering $30k prizes each for the best project integration, with a $5k prize also offered by Chainlink.

Ignition will run from August 31st to October 8th. The Grand Champion will win $75,000 in USDC, along with passes to Breakpoint, the first annual Solana conference, where they will present their project.

Judges and speakers will include Jeremy Allaire, Amy Wu, Ali Yayha, 0xMaki, Matthew Graham, and more.
