Grupo BMV Comments On The Suspension Of Operations On Friday, October 9, 2020

  • It is completely ruled out that the suspension was due to a cyber attack 
  • The suspension of operations was the result of an error caused by a technology provider 
  • The trading systems and tools, as well as platforms and applications of the BMV, did not suffer any failure 

La Bolsa Mexicana de Valores, S.A.B. de C.V. (BMV) informs that, at 11:56 a.m., there was a disconnection in the trading engine, therefore, in accordance with the Internal Regulations and Operating Manual of the BMV, the suspension of the Auction Session was decreed, same that was maintained until the close of the trading day. 

Faced with the rumors that have arisen, it is completely ruled out that the suspension was due to a cyber-attack. Grupo BMV operates with adequate cybersecurity standards and has the necessary procedures to ensure the integrity of the information of its operations. 

It is important to emphasize that the systems and operating tools, as well as platforms and applications of the BMV, did not suffer any failure, only the interruption in the service occurred. 

From the outset, a constant dialogue has been maintained at the highest level with the corresponding authorities. Likewise, constant, and detailed communication has been established with all financial intermediaries. 

Finally, it is reported that on Monday, October 12, the BMV will resume its operations on a regular basis at the times established by its Internal Regulations and Operating Manual.
