BNP Paribas Asset Management Announces Three New Hires For Asian Equities Team Based In Hong Kong

BNP Paribas Asset Management (‘BNPP AM’) announces three appointments for its Asian Equities team based in Hong Kong.

Zhikai Chen has been appointed Head of Asian Equities, effective 8 October.  He will replace Arthur Kwong who will leave the firm to pursue other opportunities, and will report to Guy Davies, Global CIO for Fundamental Active Equities.

Jinwen Ouyang and Roxy Wong, two portfolio managers with whom Mr Chen has built a proven track-record in managing Asia ex-Japan Equities at Lombard Odier, have also been hired.  They will join our existing team across Hong Kong and Malaysia, to help strengthen our Asian Equities strategies, and complement our highly-regarded China and Global Emerging Equities teams.

Biographies

Zhikai Chen has more than 20 years of experience in the financial industry.  He brings a wealth of experience, from the Monetary Authority of Singapore to Putnam Investments, with a focus on Emerging and Asia ex Japan, and since 2012 as Head of Asia ex Japan Equities for Lombard Odier.  He graduated from the University of Michigan in the USA (Bachelor of Business Administration) and the National University of Singapore (Master of Social Science, Applied Economics).  Zhikai is a Citywire AAA-rated fund manager.

Jinwen Ouyang has 13 years of experience in the financial industry.  She was a portfolio manager for Asia at Lombard Odier.  Before joining the firm in 2014, Jinwen was an analyst at Value Partners (Asia).  Previously, she served as research analyst at Société Générale (USA) covering cross-border Mergers & Acquisitions. Jinwen began her career with Crédit Suisse in 2006.  She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Chicago and a Master of Mathematical Finance from Columbia University, NY.

Roxy Wong has more than 20 years of experience in financial markets and technology, most recently as a Senior Portfolio Manager for Asia at Lombard Odier.  Before joining Lombard Odier in 2013, Roxy was head of regional technology research at Mirae Asset Group (Asia).  From 2008 to 2011 he served as senior research analyst at RCM (a member of Allianz Global Investors), where he covered the technology sector in Asia ex Japan, and between 2000 to 2008 he was a core member of the Asian tech research team at Bear Stearns (Asia).  Roxy began his career with Motorola in 1993 before moving to Intel in 1996.  He obtained his BEng (Hons) in Electronic Engineering from MIST, United Kingdom, and a Masters in Applied Finance from Macquarie University, Australia.  Roxy is a Citywire AAA-rated fund manager.
