Bank Mellat’s executives joined Tehran Securities Exchange (TSE)’s opening bell ceremony on Sunday 8 February 2026.
Reflecting on the bank's 17-year tenure in Iran's capital market, Farshid Farrokhnejad, Chief Executive Officer of Bank Mellat, emphasized the pivotal role of securities markets in national economic development.
Farrokhnejad underscored transparency as a cornerstone benefit of capital market participation. "Enhanced transparency stands as the most critical outcome of stock exchange operations, a truly invaluable contribution that bolsters shareholder confidence. As a major issuer in the capital market, Bank Mellat currently holds the position of Iran's largest listed bank by market capitalization,” he stated.
The CEO also noted the bank's active issuance of diverse financial instruments to support sustainable financing for the national economy. He reported during the first nine months of the current year, Bank Mellat issued electronic bills totaling IRR 102 trillion and foreign-currency Murabaha sukuk amounting to €320 million. "An additional Euro one billion sukuk issuance is currently underway," he added, underscoring the bank's continued commitment to innovative Islamic finance solutions.
It is worth noting that Bank Mellat was established in 1980 and was listed at TSE in February 2009 and currently accounts for more than IRR 3,130 trillion of the exchange’s total market capitalization.
On the sidelines of the bell-ringing ceremony, a dedicated media briefing was held, during which senior Bank Mellat executives addressed journalists' inquiries regarding the bank's operational performance, development strategies, and future outlook.
